Documents required for personal injury trust

We need to know the amount of compensation and confirm the compensation is for an injury.
You may have letters or emails from your solicitors, or from the body paying the compensation, which show this. We do not need bundles of documents, just one or two which show the compensation is for injury and the amount.

Identification documents for you and trustees

Documents are necessary for you and each trustee. We need one document to prove identity and the other to prove address – the same document cannot prove both identity and address, so one document from each list below please:

Acceptable documents for identity are:

  1. Passport
  2. Driving licence – full NOT provisional
  3. EU card and EEA national identity card
  4. UK biometric residence permit
  5. A benefit entitlement letter less than 12 months old
  6. A UK blue disabled driver’s pass (with photo)
  7. A UK Armed Forces identity card
  8. An HMRC tax notification dated within 12 months – NOT P45 or P60
  9. A Home Office immigration status document or application registration card
  10. A valid Northern Ireland voter’s card

Acceptable documents for address are:
A. Driving licence – full NOT provisional
B. Bank statement
C. UK credit card statement
D. UK utility bill – not a mobile telephone bill
E. A UK, European Union (EU) or European Economic Area (EEA) mortgage statement, as long as it shows a UK address
F. A council tax bill, demand letter or exemption certificate, issued within the last 12 months
G. A tenancy agreement from a local council or housing association, dated within the last 12 months
H. A benefit entitlement letter less than 12 months old
I. An HMRC tax notification dated within the last 12 months – NOT a P45 or P60
J. A UK credit union statement dated within the last three months
